Community Engagement
Conservation change starts with advocacy, and advocacy cannot happen without education and communication of current concerns. To further the impact of wildlife research, I prioritize connecting and communicating with the public, making them aware and empathetic to conservation needs in their communities. With every event, presentation, and lecture, I hope to spark positive change within my constituents.
Penn for Wildlife
During the University of Pennsylvania’s Earth Week celebration, I organized a “Penn for Wildlife” event, where multiple wildlife-focused groups across campus came together to share their urban wildlife conservation missions. In addition, passersby were encouraged to give a pledge on what they would do to support wildlife in their communities.
Bat Bonanza
Bats are a crucial and beneficial species, and many call Philadelphia home. Working with multiple offices across the University of Pennsylvania, I was able to create an event that celebrated and created safe homes for bats across campus.
All About Barn Owls
Barn owl populations in Pennsylvania have suffered a 53% decline in the last twenty years. In this interactive event, we invited barn owl experts from the Wildlife Futures Program, Delaware Nature Society, Millersville University, and ZooAmerica to lecture about this impressive bird-of-prey, and ended the event with barn owl pellet dissections
